02/01/2012 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Detroit Pistons hope to solve their road issues tonight in the finale of a four-game trek against the New Jersey Nets.
Detroit is 0-3 so far on the road trip and has lost six straight as the guest, including Tuesdays 113-86 setback at New York in which Knicks star Carmelo Anthony returned to the lineup to score 25 points.
Jonas Jerebko scored 15 points, while Greg Monroe had 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Pistons, losers of six straight overall and 10 of 11 games. Detroit is just 1-11 as the guest.
"We have little chance to win when teams are shooting 50 percent from the field or 60 percent from the field," said Pistons coach Lawrence Frank.
Frank's club will play its third straight game tonight in Newark, NJ. Frank, of course, coached the Nets from 2004 until early on in the 2009-10 season.
The Nets have dropped back-to-back games since a season-high two-game winning streak and hope to improve on their 2-6 home record tonight.
In Tuesday's 106-99 loss to the Indiana Pacers, Deron Williams netted a game- high 34 points and Anthony Morrow added a season- high 28 points for New Jersey.
"You don't want to get down 18 points and have to try to fight back, especially against a good team like this. That's hard to do," Williams told the team's website. "We battled back and cut it to three, I think, but just weren't able to get over that hump."
Nets guard MarShon Brooks did not play due to a broken right little toe and forward Mehmet Okur missed his third straight game because of a sore lower back. DeShawn Stevenson is also hampered with a knee issue.
New Jersey and Detroit split four meetings a season ago, while the Pistons have won 13 of the past 18 matchups in this series. However, Detroit has lost three straight and five of its last six at New Jersey.

It's less than a month until the NHL hockey betting season opens at MySportsbook.com and preparations are underway for another battle in the race to hoist Lord Stanley's mug in 2007.
As cup crazy fans prepare to place their bets, one online sportsbook ,MySportsbook.com, is offering hockey betting lines on the 2007/2007 Stanley Cup , who will bring it home this upcoming season.
Despite a poor showing in last season's playoffs and the loss of Steve Yzerman to retirement, the Detroit Red Wings are early favourites at this online sportsbook with wagering odds of 6-1. The Wings will look to offensive powerhouse Pavel Datsyuk and newly appointed captain Nicklas Lidstrom to lead one of the league's most prominent franchises.
Always a threat are the Ottawa Senators, with newly acquired goaltender Martin Gerber from the Stanley Cup champion ,Carolina Hurricanes. The Sens are second best in the rankings at a 7-1 bet, and odds makers at this sportsbook are optimistic that the Ottawa squad will fare better than last season's Eastern Conference semi-final upset to the Buffalo Sabres.
Also worth noting are the defending Stanley Cup champs Carolina Hurricanes, a 10-1 bet to repeat. Behind the Canes are the New Jersey Devils, Calgary Flames, Buffalo Sabres, Philadelphia Flyers, and Anaheim Mighty Ducks all sit at 12-1. In the basement are the Washington Capitals, Chicago Blackhawks, and St. Louis Blues who all have 100-1 odds to win.

The most popular sports to bet on are NFL and college football along with NBA and NCAA basketball. There are multiple betting opportunities within those sports, beginning with the basic wager on a game’s outcome (also called betting the side). College Football Point spreads are used in both football and basketball in an attempt to even the attractiveness of each team in a match-up. ( See our article detailing how and why point spreads are made)
But you could also simply bet on the money line, or straight-up winner of the game. Oddsmakers use the money line so that more money must be risked on the favorite or expected winner and less money on the underdog to balance the action on both sides. While money line gambling is an attractive option for football and basketball bettors who only care about picking a winner, it is the primary option for those bettors who enjoy wagering on MLB baseball and individual sports like boxing, tennis, golf and racing events such as NASCAR. ( More details on playing the Money Line)
Another bet across all major team sports including football, basketball, baseball, and hockey involves wagering on the amount of scoring in a game, called an Over/Under total. For example, the Over/Under total on Super Bowl XXXIX was 48, which means a bettor could wager whether there would be more or less than 48 points scored by both teams combined in the game.
The final score of Super Bowl XXXIX was 24-21; the scoring of both teams added up to 45, which means the game went Under . So Under bettors won, and Over bettors lost.
Sports gambling doesn’t end there. Betting sides and totals are the most common wagers available everywhere, but many sportsbooks also offer future bets on big upcoming events like who will win next year’s Super Bowl and what movie will win Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
The main advantage of futures is that you can get appealing odds by betting far in advance. For example, with NFL futures you often can get much higher odds on a team by betting before the season even starts. A NFL future bet on a team to win the Super Bowl odds might be 20/1 in the preseason; but by midseason, their odds might decrease to 10/1 if they turn out to be legitimate championship contenders.
Involves one individual wager, whether it be on your team to cover the point spread, to win the game straight-up on the money line, or to go over/under the total.
