03/07/2009 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The sizzling Nashville Predators will try to extend their season-high winning streak to seven games when they visit the struggling Philadelphia Flyers for tonight's interconference battle at the Wachovia Center.
The Predators beat Columbus on Thursday to post their first six-game winning streak since January 5-15, 2007. Nashville last won seven in a row during a franchise-record eight-game win streak to begin the 2005-06 campaign.
Nashville's hot streak has allowed the club to break into the Western Conference playoff race. The Preds are currently tied with Columbus and Dallas for the conference's final three postseason berths.
Steve Sullivan notched the game-winning goal late in the second period, as Nashville doubled up the visiting Blue Jackets, 4-2, at Sommet Center.
Vernon Fiddler, Ryan Jones and Martin Erat also lit the lamp for the Predators. Pekka Rinne made 31 stops to post his 22nd win of the season.
Nashville is just 12-17-2 as the visiting team this season and will return home to Music City for a two-game homestand following tonight's test.
The Flyers, meanwhile, have dropped three of their last four games and were handed a blowout loss in Thursday's game against the visiting Calgary Flames. Philadelphia is still fourth in the Eastern Conference standings, but is just three points ahead of Montreal.
Olli Jokinen celebrated his first game as a Flame with two goals as Calgary pumped in four first-period scores to subdue Philadelphia, 5-1, at Wachovia Center.
Mike Knuble provided the lone offense for the Flyers, who kicked off a five- game homestand with the lopsided loss.
Antero Niittymaki was pulled after giving up four goals on 19 shots in the first period, suffering his first regulation loss since February 12. Martin Biron finished the game by making 21 saves.
The Flyers also lost forward Danny Briere once again after he suffered a groin injury in Thursday's loss. He is expected to be out for tonight's game, but the injury is apparently not as serious as was initially thought and Briere could be back for Tuesday's game against Buffalo.
Briere's injury came in just his third game back after he missed 36 contests with the lingering effects of a groin strain, which included exploratory surgery back on January 22. In 12 games this season, Briere has picked up five goals and nine points.
Philadelphia is 18-9-4 as the host this season, but has lost two straight and three of its last four home games.
Nashville has won the last two meetings with the Flyers, but the teams haven't played since the Preds posted a 3-2 decision in Philadelphia on November 29, 2006.

American Idol odds : Blake Lewis the Early Standout
An important American Idol betting lines recap from February 20 Guys episode. The 12 men came out flat overall with Blake Lewis appearing to have the early edge after the first hour and a half.
Rudy - was quite good singing "Free Ride" to start off. Randy was not impressed though. Paula thought he started off fantastic. "Never had anyone stop off so lively" said Paula but Simon (who does not like Rudy) does not feel he has a distinct voice and was not impressed either.
Brandon was a little pitchy according to Randy and Paula agreed. Simon said he was a good singer but the song was "too safe" and he needs to make an impact. He was listed at +1200 odds or $1200 paid out on a $100 bet should he win the competition.
Big favorite Sundance came in with a flat version of "Knights in White Satin" and the judges let him have it, including Paula. Randy claimed the song was out of pitch throughout.
Korean American - and a Jenny Woo favorite - Paul Kim was up next. Another pitchy flat one but Randy said he still liked his potential. Kim at +3000 odds was said to have sung a "third rate version of that (George Michael) song" according to Simon Cowell. He sang "Careless Whisper".
22 year old Chris Richardson was up next. He was listed with +1100 odds coming in. He got the best response from the judges though Simon did not believe the vocal was that great.
Nick was boring and pitchy. Simon didn't think he was that bad though and predicted he would be back next week. Nick Pedro was a big +3000 dog coming into this competition.
Beat boxer Blake Lewis was listed with early +1000 odds or $1000 payout on a $100 bet if he were to become the next American Idol winner odds . These of course were the early odds. He was considered original for picking an "odd song". He did not beat box and the judges felt it was the best vocal of the night.
Sanjaya came in as the second biggest favorite after Chris Sligh but his performance Tuesday night was not very good.
Chris Sleigh was the early favorite at +450 odds. Great voice and a great sense of humor. He's a real standout. Randy felt it was on point but maybe ahead of the chorus a little bit. Simon Cowell said he felt like he was in some "sort of weird student gig".
Jared Cotter followed. He was listed with +2000 odds early on to win the competition. The judges felt he needs to take more risks but looked good.
22-year old AJ Talbado, who has tried out for American Idol five times, was up next. "Kind of a theme park performance" said Simon. Though the judges felt he performed okay. Simon did feel AJ might be better than he originally thought.
Phil - this season's military favorite - came into this competition with +1200 odds to win the competition. He was the last to perform. He was certainly strong enough to get through this stage of the competition and perhaps the best one after a shaky start.
Tomorrow night, the ladies perform and I sure hope they do a better job than the boys. Check out all the American Idol betting odds here.

Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Odds
Will he or won't he? Now that the Dallas Cowboys have a new head coach in Wade Phillips, the big question will be: Does Terrell Owens stay with the team.
Jerry Jones continues to suggest that Terrell Owens will remain with the team.
"I've said that he's back, he's here, he's under contract," Jones said. "In the interviews I've just been through (to hire a new coach), it was very clear to me how highly he's thought of and how much of an impact he had on our offensive success."
Just to be sure though, Terrell Owens cleared out his locker and removed his name plate.
Terrell Owens was among the Cowboys most productive players this past season, catching 85 passes for 1,180 yards and a league-best 13 touchdowns.
But T.O. is due a $3 million roster bonus in June, then a $5 million salary this season. Cutting him before then would save a lot of money and headaches.
Aside from the questions surrounding Terrell Owens, the oddsmakers at MySportsbook.com have concerns over starting quarterback Tony Romo's state of mind and whether he will remain a starting quarterback. It is also not known how players will adjust to new head coach, Wade Phillips.
Here are the football odds as seen at MySportsbook.com and subject to change after February 10, 2007 if not locked in prior to that date.
